Comparative Study of E-Nose, GC-MS, and GC-IMS to Distinguish Star Anise Essential Oil Extracted Using Different Extraction Methods

In this study, star anise (Illicium verum) essential oils (SAEOs) were extracted by hydrodistillation (HD), ethanol solvent extraction (ESE), supercritical CO2 (SCD) and subcritical (SE) via electronic nose (E-nose), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), GC-ion mobility (GC-IMS). GC-MS GC-IMS used to identify the volatile compounds, was also determine their concentrations. Principal component analysis (PCA) linear discriminant (LDA) visualise compounds differentiate samples. The results showed that anethole limonene main in SAEOs using four methods components similar, albeit different proportions. addition, fingerprints of established E-nose analyses. general, GC-MS, GC-IMS, combined with PCA LDA could accurately distinguish methods, identified as most suitable method because its accuracy rapidity.
